Kiteboarding is a beautiful sport in which the wind powers a parachute like kite to pull a rider who stands on a board as they glide through the water.

Karratha Kite School teaches kiteboarding lessons in the beautiful surroundings of the Pilbara region. Our teaching spots include:

  • Hampton Harbour – Dampier

  • Hearsons Cove – Burrup Peninsula

  • Settlers Beach – Cossack

Karratha Kite School is predominantly a kiteboarding school for people who would like to learn how to kiteboard through a structured course and in safe conditions. We cater for one student per instructor and have two accredited International Kiteboarding Organisation (IKO) qualified instructors.

We aim for all of our clients to have an enjoyable and safe experience during their lessons and go on to become confident safe kiteboarders.

Instructors:

Charlie

Skateboarder from a young age, I have spent most of my life in the French Alpes where I practiced snowboarding for 25 years. I fell in love with kiteboarding when I first discovered it in 2010.

It is an accessible adventure sport in which you experience amazing sensations and enjoyment from the very beginning. It is a sport in which you continually develop your skills – the progression is endless.

There is so much to explore when you are kiteboarding, you can either go fast or cruise along, do jumps and tricks, ride a wave or even glide along above the water using a foil board. The skills that can be developed seem endless – and all whilst being powered by the wind in a natural environment.

I look forward to sharing my passion for kiteboarding, promoting and expanding this amazing sport in the Pilbara.

Jian

I first saw kiteboarding as a young girl when my parents took us from the Australian bush to visit the beach, I thought it looked amazing but didn’t realise it was something I would ever be able to do – a powerful image and a dream was burnt into my imagination. I finally made that dream a reality when I took the leap and learnt to kiteboard in 2010.

I loved kiteboarding from the beginning – the feeling of freedom was something I hadn’t experienced in any other sport. I threw myself into getting out and enjoying the wind and the ocean as often as possible and still can’t get enough of it.

It is a beautiful sport in which you can experience being out in nature and appreciate the power of the elements. I have a big passion for the outdoors and making exercise fun, I look forward to sharing this passion and teaching people the amazing sport of  kiteboarding.

Had a great couple of lessons with Jian. She was a great instructor and I felt at ease the whole time. In the end I got some video footage which Jian took on her go pro and it really helped me improve. An awesome way to start kiteboarding!
